Finding your New Home

You've decided that it is time for you to purchase a home in the Denver metro area. You've spoken with a lender, and you have a pre-approval letter burning a hole in your pocket.  It is time to start looking at homes... now what?

Make a list of your Needs and Wants

It is time to decide what is really important in your new home. Your first step is to make a list of everything you NEED to have in your home. Then a list of things that would be nice to have, but maybe not required. You may even have a third list of things you definitely want to avoid. Remember that your lists may beed to be flexible based on your budget, the local housing market, etc. If you are buying a home with someone else (spouse, partner, friend), make sure that everyone involved gets a chance to contribute to the lists (including kids).

This is a great time to search for homes in the area(s) you like and see what your options are. If you're looking for a large ranch-style home, on a couple of acres of land, you probably won't find it in the middle of the city!

Realistically, unless you recently won the lottery you may need to compromise on some of the items on your list - but simply having a list will help keep you on track during your search.

We can help you set up web searches or we can find homes and email them to you. When we've found some homes to look at we will schedule showings and take you to see the homes on your list. 

Be prepared for your home tour

When you go out to look at homes, bring along a notebook and a digital camera. Make notes about what you do and don't like about the homes you see. Take photos to help you remember. Wear comfortable shoes that you can slip off when you enter the homes on your tour. Provide feedback to us so that we can continue to refine your search and help you find the perfect home!

Buy vs Build

We can help you understand your options and the pros and cons of building vs buying.
