Stapleton
Community Garage Sale
Frequently
Asked Questions
When is the sale?
- Saturday, July 17, 2010, 8am - 1pm.
Where is it?
- Residents throughout Stapleton will be having sales at their homes.
A map/list will be available to download online.
Is there a cost to
participate?
- No! All the costs (signs, advertising, maps, etc) are being paid by
The Kearns Team at RE/MAX Alliance.
I don't have enough
stuff for my own sale. Can I still participate?
- Why not gather your neighbors together and have a group sale
at someone's home?
Will there be signs
posted?
- Yes. We will begin distributing signs the weekend of June 19/20. When you register we will provide infomation on how and when you can pick up a sign. Signs will be collected
after the sale to be reused next year.
If I'm one of the
first to sign up, where can I put the yard sign ?
- Generally speaking, you can put a sign on your property, between your
home and the sidewalk. DO NOT PUT A SIGN IN THE TREE LAWN
(the area between the sidewalk and the street), as this is illegal in
Denver. If you live in a home with an HOA sub-association (i.e. a condo,
townhouse, or home facing a courtyard), please check with your HOA sub-association
before putting up a sign. For owners of McStain Row Homes, we’ve
been notified in the past by the Row Home Association that signs are NOT allowed
(so we won’t be delivering signs to these homes).
Will the sale be advertised?
- Yes. There will be an article in the July issue of Front Porch. There will
also be ads in the Denver Post and a posting on Craig’s List.
Should I hold my sale
in my alley or in my front yard?
- This one is largely a matter of personal preference. A sale in your
front yard will have more visibility and attract "drive-by"
shoppers. A sale in your garage provides a good place to set everything
up in advance and protection in case of foul weather. For either location,
be a good neighbor and talk to the folks who live near you. Let them know
you're having a sale since it might inconvenience them... and they just
might decide to join in!
My home faces a common
courtyard. Can I have the sale there?
- Residents with homes on courtyards (i.e. KB and Wonderland) should check
with their neighbors and their HOA before holding a sale there.
I've never held a
garage sale. Do you have any tips?
- Check out our Garage
Sale Tips sheet!
I want to participate!
How do I sign up?
-The last day to register for the sale, and be included on the map, is Saturday July 10. To register, please send an email to GarageSale@BuildingStapleton.com, and include the following info:
- Contact Name, phone number, and e-mail address (these are for use in communicating only, and will not be shared);
- Street Address;
- Where you will have your sale (Alley or Front); and
- The two or three main things you will have for sale – examples: "furniture and lawn equipment," "baby clothes, toys, and computers." So we don't have to do too much editing, please limit your description to about 10 words or less.
